Ingredients

  • 1 small very ripe (preferably frozen) banana
  • 1 cup milk (or dairy substitute)
  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach
  • 2 softened, pitted Medjool dates
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • A few ice cubes (optional)

Equipment

  • Blender

Method

Step 1: Gather & Load Your Blender
  1. Start by adding your liquid to the blender first. Pour in your 1 cup of milk (or dairy substitute). Next, add the soft ingredients: your 1 small very ripe banana, the 2 cups of fresh baby spinach, the 2 softened, pitted Medjool dates, and the 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. Finally, toss in a few ice cubes, or your frozen banana if using.
Step 2: Blend to Perfection
  1. Secure the lid on your blender. Start blending on a low speed to incorporate everything, then gradually increase to high speed. Blend until the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy, with no visible flecks of spinach. If your blender has a tamper, use it to push ingredients down towards the blades for an extra smooth result.

Notes

For optimal creaminess and chill, use a very ripe frozen banana. This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately after blending. For short-term storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours, giving it a good shake before drinking. For quick prep, create freezer packs with dry ingredients.
