Step 1: Layering for Success
- Add the milk (or dairy substitute) to your blender first.
- Next, pile in the fresh baby spinach, followed by the banana, fresh grated ginger, and the tiny pinch of black pepper.
- Lastly, add a few ice cubes or your preferred amount of frozen banana if using.
Step 2: Blending to Perfection
- Secure the lid on your blender and begin blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high.
- Blend for 30-60 seconds, or until there are no discernible chunks of spinach and the consistency is entirely smooth and creamy.
- If necessary, pause and scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula to ensure everything is fully incorporated.
Optional Step: Adjusting Consistency
- If your smoothie turns out too thick for your liking, simply add a splash more milk or water and blend again until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Conversely, if it's a bit too thin, toss in a few more ice cubes or a handful of frozen fruit (like berries!) and blend until it thickens up to your preference.
Notes
Smoothies are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 24 hours in the fridge; stir before serving. Always use very ripe bananas for natural sweetness. For added satiety, consider boosting with healthy fats like nut butter or seeds.
