Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil sweet potatoes in a large pot until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain and mash the sweet potatoes in a large bowl.
  4. Add maple syrup, melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the mashed sweet potatoes and mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through and the top is golden brown.

Notes

Serve hot as a side dish during dinner, particularly with roasted meats like turkey or ham. Adjust the sweetness with maple syrup to your taste. For a twist, add mini marshmallows before baking or mix in chopped apples or cranberries for a fruity flavor.
