Ingredients

Burger Ingredients
  • 2 lbs ground chuck (80/20)
  • 2 pieces white onions, paper-thin sliced
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste garlic powder
  • to taste Baconnaise sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat a griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Form the ground chuck into loose balls, approximately 4-5 ounces each.
Cooking
  1. Once the griddle is hot, place the balls on it and smash them down with a spatula to form patties.
  2. Season the patties with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a crust forms, then flip the patties.
  4. Place the thinly sliced onions on top of the burgers and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Remove the patties from the skillet and spread Baconnaise sauce on the bottom half of each burger bun.
  6. Place the patty with onions on top of the sauce, then add the top half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

Serve these smash burgers hot and fresh. Pair with fries or a salad, and add extra toppings like cheese, lettuce, or pickles as desired. Keep Baconnaise on the side for more flavor.
