Method
Preparation
- Lightly grease your crockpot with cooking spray.
- Add the chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the dry ranch dressing mix until smooth. If it feels too thick, add a tablespoon of milk.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chicken breasts.
- Pour the milk or chicken broth over everything.
Cooking
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and shreds easily.
- Once the chicken is ready, shred it in the crockpot using two forks.
- Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon, stirring until well combined and the cheese is melted.
- Cover the crockpot again and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes.
Serving
- Sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy it on buns, over rice, in lettuce wraps, or as a dip.
Notes
For extra flavor, add garlic powder or garlic. For heat, add hot sauce or crushed red pepper flakes. Use a slow cooker liner for easy cleanup. Swap cheddar cheese for other types if desired.
